Course Description
The start line will be on Route 8 near Worley Machines. The course will head south on Route 8 towards Jack's Creek Covered Bridge where you will run through the bridge then double-back to the starting line. Then you will turn right onto Elamsville Road towards Smith River Church of the Brethren. You will turn right onto Bob White Road, and finish in the church parking lot where you registered. Except for running through the bridge, the entire course is on paved roadway, closed course with assistance from law enforcement, fire, and rescue. The covered bridge is one of only six public covered bridges in the state of Virginia. You will also see a private covered bridge on the course while on Route 8. Bob White Covered Bridge, near Smith River Church of the Brethren, used to be part of the race course and was another public covered bridge in Virginia, but it was tragically washed away in the flood on September 29, 2015. Conversations on whether to rebuild the bridge are still in the works.
