The Heritage Classic 5K is a walk/run race that’s held every May on campus to raise money for the school through race sponsorships. The annual race boasts more than 200 participants with an overall attendance of more than 300 people from the local community.
The race is a favored tradition for many families, alumni, faculty and members of the community. The famous Glennwood hill is 2/3 of a mile long with a 50m elevation change in that distance, an average 4.4% grade, ending at the 1 mile point.
As a reward for participation and sponsorships collected, students are given an afternoon off to enjoy an SGA sponsored Play Day. Play day is full of outside activities which often include hay-rides, field games, hot dogs and hamburgers, inflatables, and even a slip-n-slide. It’s a fun way to celebrate everyone chipping in and doing their part to help raise funds.
